1 ROGUE WON The news moves at Internet speed and stories often depart our consciousness as fast as they flash over our screens, but few of us will forget where we were when, for eleven brief but glorious minutes, Donald Trump — the all caps king, the exclamation point potus — was deleted from Twitter; giving a us an ephemeral respite from the past SAD! ten months, a welcome reprieve during which we could ENJOY! the fantasy that this near year of social media trolling from the Oval Office had merely been an illusion, a Shakespearean-level tragicomedy concocted in the less forgiving recesses of our slumbering minds — perchance just a bad dream, one that, had he lived during this era, Sigmund Freud might have interpreted as: Fake News. Alas, it was no such thing, a reality slapped across our face by the tiny tapping thumbs of he whose account had re-emerged: “My Twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee.” From AP: Trump’s brief Twitter outage prompts cheers, concerns. Like the notion that “that all men are created equal” the reason for the cheers is self evident. The reason for concern is less obvious, but worth noting. Imagine for a moment that another rogue employee were to take control of the presidential Twitter account and use it to wantonly harass private citizens, belittle Senators with slander and catchy nicknames, attack Gold Star families, spread mistruths and propaganda concocted by our enemies, defame former US presidents, taunt foreign leaders and threaten war with nuclear-armed adversaries, or even go so far as to call into question the rule of law with constant attacks on judges and law enforcement agencies. That could be really bad.

2 BALTIMORE MORE MORE “Murders have become almost numbingly routine in Baltimore. In 2017 so far, 297 homicides have been recorded. The city is on a pace to break its record of 353 murders in 1993 when Baltimore, population 614,000, had 113,000 more residents than it does now.” From The Guardian: Baltimore is more murderous than Chicago. Can anyone save the city from itself?

The move came a week after employees at those sites decided to unionize. We often get excited when a when a billionaire swoops in to save a news organization. But it can be a dangerous game.

It’s more than the 33,000 annual gun deaths, and more than the 20,000-plus people killed by synthetic opioids that year. 1. New York attack suspect charged with terrorism as Trump calls for death penalty Federal authorities on Wednesday charged Sayfullo Saipov with terrorism offenses for allegedly killing eight people by driving a rented truck down a bike path in lower Manhattan. NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence and Counterterrorism John Miller said Saipov executed the attack “in the name of ISIS” and planned it for weeks, picking Halloween to inflict maximum damage and following ISIS instructions posted on social media “almost exactly to a T.” President Trump called for “quick” and “strong” justice for terror suspects, saying they target the U.S. because the justice system is so slow and lenient on terrorists that it is “a laughing stock.” Trump said he would consider sending “this animal” to Guantanamo Bay, and that he should get the death penalty. 2. Astros beat Dodgers to win first World Series title The Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 to win the World Series at Dodger Stadium. Astros center fielder George Springer hit a two-run home run in the second inning, tying the record of five homers in a World Series shared by Reggie Jackson and Chase Utley. The All-Star center fielder also became the first player ever to hit home runs in four straight World Series games, a performance that helped him win World Series MVP honors. 3. Trump calls for ending visa program terror suspect used President Trump on Wednesday called for ending the visa program that New York City terror attack suspect Sayfullo Saipov used to get into the U.S. from Uzbekistan seven years ago. The so-called diversity visa program offers a path to residency for people from countries with low rates of immigration into the U.S. “I’m going to ask Congress to immediately initiate work to get rid of this program,” Trump said. He called the visa program “a Chuck Schumer beauty,” suggesting a level of responsibility for the Democrat from New York. Schumer said Trump should focus on a real solution — increasing anti-terrorism funding he has “proposed to cut” — “instead of politicizing and dividing America, which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy.” Source: Reuters

4. Trump calls for 11th-hour changes to Republican tax plan President Trump called for last-minute changes to the House Republican tax bill on Wednesday, as GOP tax writers were rushing to complete it in time to unveil it on Thursday. Trump reportedly is pushing to name the proposal “The Cut Cut Cut Act,” which Republican leadership has resisted. He also said on Twitter that the GOP should address an Affordable Care Act fix in the bill. “Wouldn’t it be great to repeal the very unfair and unpopular individual mandate in ObamaCare and use those savings for further tax cuts,” Trump tweeted. 5. Congress releases samples of Russia-linked Facebook ads Congress made public dozens of ads placed on Facebook by Russia-linked accounts aimed at dividing Americans and influencing last year’s presidential election. The ads represented a small sample of the 3,000 or so ads Facebook has found and given to Congress. They were released as part of two days of testimony on Capitol Hill by representatives of Facebook, Google, and Twitter on content created by Russian operatives that Americans were exposed to during the campaign. The ads called for protests against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and stoked both support and opposition to Bernie Sanders, minorities, Muslims, and gays. 6. U.K. defense secretary resigns after sexual harassment allegations British Defense Minister Michael Fallon resigned Wednesday after being accused of sexual harassment. Fallon admitted that he had “fallen short” in his past behavior toward women. Fallon apologized earlier this week after details emerged about an incident 15 years ago when he repeatedly placed his hand on the knee of journalist Julia Hartley-Brewer, although she said “No one was remotely upset or distressed” about it. Fallon said allegations recently surfaced about past actions by lawmakers, including him. He said some of the accusations were false, but he conceded in his resignation letter to British Prime Minister Theresa May that he had not met “the high standards that we require of the armed forces” he represented. 7. Fed leaves interest rates unchanged The Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged on Wednesday at the close of a two-day meeting, stressing that economic and job growth remained solid. Fed policy makers played down negative impact from the summer’s devastating hurricanes. The statement, which followed expectations, suggested that the Fed remained on track to make its third gradual interest rate hike of the year at its December meeting. The meeting wrapped up a day before President Trump is expected to announce that he is nominating Fed Governor Jerome Powell to replace Janet Yellen as Fed chair. Powell has supported Yellen’s careful approach to raising interest rates and unwinding other monetary policies the central bank used to help boost the economy after the Great Recession. 8. Navy report says deadly collisions were ‘avoidable’ Adm. John M. Richardson, the chief of naval operations, said in a report released Wednesday that two deadly collisions between Navy destroyers in the Western Pacific this year were “avoidable.” An investigation determined that the accidents, which killed 17 sailors, resulted from chains of crew and basic navigational errors. “Many of the decisions made that led to this incident were the result of poor judgment and decision making of the commanding officer,” the report concluded. “The crew was unprepared for the situation in which they found themselves through a lack of preparation, ineffective command and control, and deficiencies in training and preparations for navigation.” The report recommended sweeping changes in sailor training and safety procedures to correct systemic problems in the Pacific fleet. 9. Utah nurse reaches $500,000 settlement over rough arrest Alex Wubbels, the nurse shown in body-cam video being roughly arrested at a Salt Lake City hospital, has reached a $500,000 settlement with the city and the university that owns the hospital. The July footage showed Wubbels telling a detective that an agreement between police and the hospital prevented her from letting him draw blood from an unconscious patient. The detective, who has since been fired but is appealing, then handcuffs Wubbels and pulls her outside as she says she has done nothing wrong. Wubbels said she would use some of the money to help people involved in incidents to get access to police body camera footage. “The police have to police themselves,” she said. “This is something I never would have expected to happen.” Source: NPR

10. Gunman ‘nonchalantly’ shoots 3 dead at Colorado Walmart A gunman “nonchalantly” walked into a Walmart store in suburban Denver and began shooting randomly, killing two men and a woman, Thornton, Colorado, Police Department spokesman Victor Aliva said Wednesday. The killer, described as a Caucasian man dressed casually in a black jacket and jeans, said nothing during the shooting. He fled in a red Mitsubishi Mirage four-door hatchback. Customer Aaron Stephens, who was in the self-checkout line when he heard gunfire, said people screamed and ran for exits. “I feared for my life,” he said. “A lady came running back, screaming about the shots. I got her out,” said employee Jay Quawrn Thompson, 18, who was working in the back of the store. Hundreds of emergency responders surrounded the shopping center for hours after the shooting. Hurricane Update
President Donald J. Trump is actively engaged in monitoring the recovery efforts in Puerto Rico, and the full weight of the United States government is engaged to ensure that food, water, healthcare, and other lifesaving resources are making it to the people in need. At the request of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, the President authorized Acting Secretary Duke to waive the Jones Act to ensure that ample resources are making it to the island, and we will continue to focus on the challenge of distributing those resources. The island setting presents logistical hurdles that do not exist on the mainland where trucks from around the country can converge on disaster areas. Ten thousand federal government relief workers are there, including 7,200 troops that are now on the island and working tirelessly to get people what they need. Lifesaving resources to hospitals have been prioritized, and 57 of the island’s 69 hospitals are now operational. The Army Corps of Engineers is spearheading a massive mobilization to restore power, and this began with providing the diesel fuel necessary for sustainable emergency power generation. They’re also working to restore long-term power generation and distribution around the island. There’s a long way to go, but we will not rest until everyone is safe and secure. Our message to the incredible people of Puerto Rico is this: The President is behind you. We all are — the entire country. Your unbreakable spirit is an inspiration to us all. We are praying for you, we are working for you, and we will not let you down.

FEMA UpdateYesterday, FEMA announced that all municipalities in Puerto Rico have been reached by search and rescue thanks to the joint efforts of multiple federal agencies. President Trump and Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Elaine Duke received a comprehensive briefing from FEMA on Thursday morning on disaster relief. Points of this briefing included:

• FEMA and its federal partners continue 24-hour operations to reach inaccessible areas of Puerto Rico to reach survivors, provide fuel to hospitals, and re-open.
• The travel distance to the Islands as well as substantial impacts to air and sea ports, has presented complex challenges requiring a phased approach to the delivery of personnel, resources, equipment to move the resources, and lodging for responders.
• There are thousands of federal staff, including more than 600 FEMA personnel, on the ground in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands engaged in response and recovery operations from Hurricanes Maria and Irma. Hundreds of additional federal personnel are supporting response and recovery operations through mainland coordination centers and logistics facilities.

The focus is on immediate relief and gaining access to all areas of the island. 4 ports and 8 airports are now open, which allows for supplies to get on the island.

Pemprov Bengkulu Cari Obat Ampuh Anti Miskin !

BENGKULU , 14 November 2017 22:57:12- Menurut Pelaksana Tugas (Plt) Gubernur Bengkulu Rohidin Mersyah, kemiskinan yang melanda Provinsi Bengkulu saat ini masih belum ada obat yang ampuh untuk menurunkannya. Walaupun telah ada berbagai program dari pemerintah pusat dan daerah untuk menangulanginya, namun hal tersebut belum menunjukan hasil yang memuaskan.

Dimana sesuai dengan data dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), angka kemiskinan Provinsi Bengkulu sudah mengalami  penurunan dari tahun 2016 yang berada pada angka 17,32 persen, menjadi 16,45 persen di tahun 2017 ini.

“Temukan betul penyakitnya, untuk mengobati kemiskinan tersebut, supaya jelas strategi yang dibangun itu dapat betul-betul dapat diterapkan, dan tepat untuk mengobati kemiskinan tersebut,” kata Plt Gubernur Rohidin Mersyah, saat memberikan arahan pada Rapat Koordinasi (Rakor) Tim Koordinasi Penanggulangan Kemiskinan (TKPK) Provinsi Bengkulu, Selasa .

Presentase angka kemiskinan yang dilakukan survey oleh BPS  menggunakan indikator besarnya biaya pengeluaran perkapita masyarakat, tanpa melihat kondisi infrastruktur yang dimiliki masyarakat tersebut.

Sehingga terjadi perbedaan angka kemiskinan di setiap daerah yang ada di Provinsi Bengkulu, hal tersebut menjadi perdebatan hingga kini.

“Yang menjadi ukuran angka kemiskinan itu, bukan dari layak dan tidaknya kondisi rumahnya, namun penetapan persentase  angka kemiskinan secara nasional  itu dilihat dari berapa rupiah pengeluaran perorang/perbulannya, untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dasarnya,” sebut Rohidin, yang sekaligus membuka secara resmi Rakor tersebut.

Sedangkan menurutnya, setiap masyarakat di suatu wilayah itu memiliki karakteristik dan kebiasaan yang berbeda dalam hal pengeluaran biaya kehidupan sehari-harinya.

Dirinya mencontohkan, biaya hidup bagi masyarakat yang berada di pesisir pantai seperti di Kabupaten Kaur,  tentu berbeda dengan biaya hidup masyakarat di daerah pegunungan seperti di Kabupaten Rejang Lebong.

“Maka dari itu saya minta tolong dikenali karakteristik daerah kabupaten/kota di Bengkulu ini seperti apa, sehingga nanti dapat menjadi rekomendasi kita untuk Bupati dan Walikotanya, apa saja upaya yang harus dilakukan oleh bupati dan walikota dalam menuruni angka kemiskinan diwilayahnya,” kata mantan Wakil Bupati Bengkulu Selatan ini.

Untuk itulah dirinya ingin agar Rakor yang dilaksanakan tersebut dapat menghasilkan suatu kesimpulan berupa pemetaan untuk strategi penanggulangan kemiskinan yang sangat efektif bagi Provinsi Bengkulu ini.

Selain itu, orang nomor satu di Provinsi Bengkulu ini meminta Jajarannya yang terkait dalam masalah penanggulangan kemiskinan ini dapat terjun kelapangan, guna memberikan advokasi serta sosialisasi kepada masyarakat di daerah terkait data kemiskinan.

“Denga pola-pola turun ke lapangan tersebut dapat mencapai target penurunan angka kemiskinan satu persen pertahunnya,’’ ujar Rohidin.

Semua itu, tambahnya, tidak akan terlaksana jika tidak ada kerjasama yang baik antar kabupaten/kota untuk bersinergi dalam upaya penanggulangan kemiskinan yang ada saat ini.

Rakor ini diikuti oleh 87 orang peserta dari insatansi/lembaga yang ada di Provinsi maupun kabupaten/kota yang memiliki concern dalam penanggulangan kemiskinan serta Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD) kabupaten dan kota Bengkulu.Rakor ini ditujukan untuk menyamakan persepsi peran dan tugas TKPK Provinsi dan kabupaten/kota, serta untuk mengetahui perkembangan kegiatan TKPK tersebut.

AHY Silaturrahmi Ke Rumah Gubernur Aceh

BANDA ACEH , 14 November 2017 22:25:35 – Gubernur Aceh Irwandi Yusuf menerima kunjungan silaturrahmi Direktur Eksekutif The Yudhoyono Institute (TYI), yang juga putra dari mantan Presiden SBY, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, di kediamannya, Selasa pagi.

Kedatangan AHY yang turut didampingi Anggota DPR RI asal Aceh Teuku Rifki Harsya, disambut langsung Gubernur Irwandi Yusuf beserta Istri Darwati Agani dan Wakil Gubernur Aceh Nova Iriansyah juga beserta istri.

Terlihat juga hadir Kepala Biro Humas dan Protokol Pemerintah Aceh Mulyadi Nurdin, Lc, MH dan sejumlah anggota Fraksi Demokrat DPR Aceh. Silaturrahmi dengan Guberur Aceh juga bagian dari program “AHY Saweu Aceh” bersama TYI selama tiga hari, mulai 13-15 November 2017.

Acara diawali dengan diskusi singkat dan penyerahan cenderamata dari Gubernur Aceh kepada AHY dan juga sebaliknya. Dalam diskusi itu Irwandi sempat mengajak AHY untuk terbang ke Lhokseumawe dengan menggunakan pesawat pribadinya. “Kalau mau langsung ke Lhokseumawe kita bisa pergi bersama, karena saya mau ke Lhokseumawe,”ujar Irwandi.

Namun kepada Irwandi, AHY mengaku harus mengikuti sejumlah agenda lainnya terlebi dahulu. “Rencananya kami ke Pidie dan Bireun terlebih dahulu, baru Lhokseumawe”ujar AHY.

Wakil gubernur Nova Iriansyah yang duduk didepan AHY juga sempat menggoda AHY untuk mencoba terbang menggunakan Shark Aero milik Irwandi. “Iya kapan-kapan saja pak,”jawab AHY singkat.

Pada kesempatan itu AHY juga menyampaikan salam dari SBY dan Ibu Ani kepada Gubernur Aceh Irwandi Yusuf dan keluarga. Acara dilanjutkan dengan sarapan pagi dan foto bersama. Selanjutnya AHY bergegas meninggalkan kediaman gubernur Aceh untuk melanjutkan perjalanan ke Pidie dan Bireun.

Menteri Tjahjo mengatakan itu, usai ia memberi kuliah umum di hadapan para perwira menengah baik dari TNI AU, TNI AD, TNI AL dan Polri di Sekolah Komando (Sesko) TNI, di Bandung. Menurut Tjahjo, koordinasi tak hanya dengan lembaga terkait. Pihaknya juga perlu mendengar masukan dari para tokoh agama. Sebab selama ini, kepercayaan itu dianggap bukanlah agama. Tapi kebudayaan.

” Koordinasi dengan tokoh-tokoh keagamaan, kami juga berkoordinasi dengan Kemendikbud berapa sih jumlah aliran kepercayaan yang fix. Kami harus berkomunikasi dengan jaksa agung muda, ada enggak aliran kepercayaan yang masuk kategori sesat. Jadi kami akan cermati. Apakah nanti kolomnya ditulis aliran kepercayaan atau ditulis Sunda Wiwitan, itu belum,” tutur Tjahjo.

Kementeriannya kata Tjahjo, harus hati-hati menyikapi putusan MK.  Karena itu pihaknya juga perlu mendengar masukan dari para tokoh-tokoh agama.  Selama ini,  UU mengatur yang  boleh dicantumkan itu adalah agama resmi yang diakui UU.  Karena  aliran kepercayaan itu bukan agama tapi keyakinan, maka perlu ada kajian.
